William (Liam) Joseph Swords
Mr. Liam Swords is the Chairman of AEC Education PLC.
Liam spent most of his early working life in the Letts Group, where he was the Group Managing Director and the key to the development of the successful Letts Study Aid range for 'A' Levels, GCSE and later, the Key Stages. During this time Letts successfully expanded into a number of markets including the USA, Germany, France and Australia.
He then joined LCCIEB in late 1991 and after successfully reversing its fortunes, moved to become its Chief Executive in 1993. He was instrumental in merging it with GOAL to form the AIM listed company Education Development International Plc whose Board he served on for a number of years. The LCCIEB exports vocational business qualifications to 86 countries around the world. It has a very high penetration in South East Asia where each day its qualifications are mentioned in the job vacancies in national newspapers.
Currently he is Chairman of a UK based distance learning company and on the Board of a qualifications organization for Accounting Technicians.
David Ho
Mr. David Ho is the Chief Executive Officer and an Executive Director of AEC Education PLC
David is one of Singapore's leading entrepreneurs. In his 35-year career he has been involved in various international businesses all over the world, including the former USSR, Eastern Europe, Africa, India, China and Asia, and recently Iraq. He has developed a fascination and keen eye for new and emerging business opportunities in Asia.
David is primarily responsible for the overall management, strategic planning and business development for the AEC Group.
David started his career with Citibank Singapore in 1973. In 1978 to start his own company, Windmill International Pte Ltd, an industrial bulk commodities trading and logistics company. Windmill was ranked 6th at the 1995 Enterprise 50 Awards.
David graduated from the University of Singapore in 1973 with Hons in Economics. He is married with 4 children and an active member of the National University of Singapore Society.
Naresh Malhotra
Naresh Malhotra is an Executive Director of AEC Education PLC
Naresh joined the Board of AEC following the acquisition of Malvern House Group Limited, the London-based English Language learning and business courses provider, on 2 July 2009. Naresh is Chief Executive Officer of Malvern House, having co-founded the business in 1999 and led its successful development into a highly regarded educational course provider.
Prior to establishing Malvern House, Naresh worked within major international companies in the manufacturing and services sectors. He has also provided non-executive support to a number of companies which include pet food, packaging and paint producers.
Haider M Sithawalla
Mr. Haider Sithawalla is the Finance Director of the AEC Education PLC.
He started his career as a civil servant and rose to the position of a Deputy Secretary, when he resigned to join the private sector and joined ACMA as a General Manager and later became its Managing Director. He is currently a Director in a number of publicly listed and private companies.
Mr. Sithawalla was also previously the Singapore High Commissioner (Non-Resident) to Mauritius, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
Gopinath Pillai
Mr. Gopinath Pillai is a Non-Executive Director of AEC Education PLC
Mr. Gopinath Pillai is the Chairman of Windmill International Pte Ltd (WIL) and Gateway Distriparks Ltd. He is currently the Executive Chairman of Savant Infocomm Pte Ltd and Director of several private companies in Singapore and India.
Armed with a degree in Economics and History from the erstwhile University of Malaya, he moved from teaching, banking, project approvals and finance, to working in senior positions or running various companies.
Mr Gopinath Pillai has received many awards; such as Friend of Labour Award, Meritorious Award, Friend of MCD Award, The Public Service Star Award (BBM) and Friend of IT Award.
R Jayapal
Mr. R Jayapal is a Non-Executive Director of AEC Education PLC.
Jayapal currently serves on some sub Committees of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS). He was a council member of ACCA, Singapore Branch for the past ten years in various capacities. He was also an International Assembly member of Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) for two years. He was an active member of British Alumni being in the committee for about ten years in various capacities. Jayapal has been an associate consultant for National Productivity Board of Singapore.
Jayapal was one of the Founder Member and Past President of the Institute of Management Consultant and served in the council for 12 years in various positions. To date, Jayapal has more than 18 years of management experience in education industry and 8 years in the accounting profession.
